CTS Launches High Volume Non-Contacting Throttle Position Sensor Program

ELKHART, Ind.--July 17, 2001--CTS Corporation , a global leader in resistive and non-contacting based automotive sensors, today announced that the Company has begun supplying volume production of a new non-contacting throttle position sensor for use in passenger vehicles in both Europe and South America.
Initial, low-volume production was begun in the first half of 2000, ramping to high-volume production in late 2000. The four-year program is valued in excess of $20 million in new business for CTS and is subject to extension. The sensor products are being delivered to Magneti Marelli, as well as two other major system suppliers, for application at two high-volume European vehicle manufacturers.
CTS non-contacting position sensors provide a robust solution for the harsh environments found in both under-the-hood and under-the-vehicle applications. They feature long-life and are relatively immune to fluid/vapor intrusion and high-frequency vibration. CTS Automotive Products was chosen as the supplier of choice for the new program based upon the Company's ability to offer a fully packaged sensor, its demonstrated outstanding technology, and its years of design and manufacturing experience in producing automotive sensor products.
The growth in sales of non-contacting sensor products is expected to continue in throttle, as well as other applications including accelerator pedal assemblies, electronic shift position and clutchless transmissions. CTS Automotive Products has the technology, design expertise and experience, and worldwide manufacturing capabilities to accommodate these, and other non-contacting sensor applications that potentially will be required for the new automotive sensor applications of the future.
