Ducati Launches The New Monster 620 I.E.
BOLOGNA, Italy, July 16 Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. , a leading manufacturer of high performance motorcycles, today announced that, on the occasion of the production of the 100,000th Ducati Monster, it is launching a completely new version of this popular model: the Monster 620 i.e. The new motorcycle retains the aesthetics of its predecessor, but will feature technology and engineering derived directly from Ducati's top-of-the-range racing machines. The Monster 620 i.e. boasts a frame and suspension derived from the successful Monster S4 and an all-new 620 cc electronic fuel injected engine. The bike offers 60 horse power, 13% more than the current Monster 600, one of the most popular bikes in Italian history. "Since its introduction in 1993, the Monster has undergone a number of evolutionary changes -- but with the Monster 620 we are doing something very different," said Carlo Di Biagio, Ducati Chief Executive Officer. "With the 620 we are setting new standards for the industry. It will be the only bike in the industry's 'naked' or 'standard' segment under 750 cc to offer the benefits of a fuel-injected engine; it is the first bike in its class to satisfy EURO2 emission requirements; and it is the lightest motorcycle in its category. The result is a combination of new features which completely transform the feel and riding experience of this bike. It brings together the fun of a cafe racer and the excitement of our more sporty machines." Founded in 1926, Ducati builds racing-inspired motorcycles characterized by unique engine features, innovative design, advanced engineering and overall technical excellence. Ducati has won nine of the last eleven World Superbike Championship titles and more individual victories than the competition put together. The Company produces motorcycles in four market segments which vary in their technical and design features and intended customers: Superbike, Supersport, Monster and SportTouring. The company's motorcycles are sold in more than 40 countries worldwide, with a primary focus in the Western European and North American markets.
