LOCAL DRIVER LOOKING FOR SHOOTOUT INVITATION

LOCAL DRIVER LOOKING FOR SHOOTOUT INVITATION

WOODSTOCK, GA - Bobby Turner is a former Dixie Speedway track champion, and
his victories are popular with the weekly crowd. His equipment is top
notch, his attitude positive, and his outlook realistic.

"I know when them touring guys come here, we'll all be hard-pressed just to
make the race," Turner says of the United Dirt Track Racing Association
(UDTRA) Pro DirtCar Series race July 21st at Dixie Speedway. That's when
the best late model dirt drivers in the world - guys like Scott Bloomquist,
Rick Eckert, Steve Francis, Jimmy Mars, Freddy Smith, et al - will be here.

"These touring guys are going to come in here and show us what it's all
about," says Turner, who lives in Canton, Ga. "It'll be a great show, and I
hope I make the lineup."

More than 60 entries are expected for the 50-lap race that will pay $10,000
to win, including more than 20 of the Dixie weekly regulars like Turner.
Only the top 24 will start the feature.

"We've been running two cars at the last few weekly races trying to get
ready for the UDTRA race," Turner says. "I've got a really good car right
now, and I like the way it's running. There's 10 guys here every week who
could win. It's a fast track, but you have to be smooth."

Last weekend, Turner led the first 18 laps, then got passed by UDTRA touring
pro Marshall Green of Dalton, GA. Turner retook the lead for keeps when
Green's engine expired on lap 35 and led the rest of the 100-lap special
feature that paid $5,000 to win in his #16 Millwood Plumbing car. It was
his third Dixie victory this season. He also was the fastest qualifier.

"This is a big opportunity to run with those guys and show 'em we can run
with 'em. Making the race is something we (the weekly regulars) all want to
do bad, but the biggest motivation is to get an invitation to the Shootout."

The UDTRA Dixie Shootout, the season-ending 100-lapper Oct. 13th that will
pay $54,000 to win and determine the Pro DirtCar champion. It is an
invitation-only event.

"Getting an invitation to the Shootout is one of my biggest goals of the
year, and I hope I can make that race (starting lineup), too," Turner says.
