Dollar Rent A Car Rates as Low-Cost Leader

    TULSA, Okla., July 12 According to the May Consumer
Reports Travel Letter, Dollar Rent A Car again proves its reputation as being
one of the nation's low-cost leaders.
    A recent survey by the Consumer Reports Travel Letter showed DOLLAR(R)
consistently having the lowest rates overall of the eight largest car rental
companies.  Conducting rate test in both U.S. and Canadian cities, Dollar was
found to never have offered the highest rate.  Further, Consumer Reports noted
other rental car firms were more "middle-of-the-road" in regards to pricing.
    In addition to the rate aspects of the survey, Consumer Reports also noted
Dollar continually ranked as one of the more competitive companies when
covering other typical car rental charges, such as late-return fees.  Dollar
was giving favorable mention for having one of the lowest minimum-age
requirements and for not enforcing a maximum age for drivers in the U.S. or
Canada.  Finally, Consumer Reports commended Dollar's customer relations for
not having high pressure sales tactics designed to influence travelers.
