Ford Elects Richard A. Manoogian to Board of Directors
DEARBORN, Mich., July 12 Richard A. Manoogian, chairman and chief executive officer of Masco Corporation, has been elected to the Ford Motor Company Board of Directors, William Clay Ford Jr., chairman of the board, announced today. "Richard is a highly respected and successful businessman with a long history of involvement in the automotive industry," Bill Ford said. "He is a community leader with a strong commitment to the Detroit area, and will be an excellent addition to our board." Manoogian has been chairman and CEO of Taylor, Mich.-based Masco since 1985. Masco is one of the world's leading manufacturers of faucets, cabinets, architectural coatings, locks and other consumer brand-name home improvement and building products. Its brands include Delta and Peerless faucets, and KraftMaid and Merillat cabinets. Manoogian joined Masco in 1958. When he was named president in 1968, the company had revenues of $55 million. Under Manoogian's direction, Masco has grown into a broadly diversified home improvement products company with annual sales of approximately $8 billion. In addition to Masco, Manoogian serves on the boards of Bank One Corp., Metaldyne Corp., MSX International Inc., and is a director of Detroit Renaissance and the American Business Conference. He is also Chairman of the Detroit Institute of Arts Board of Directors and serves as a trustee of several other cultural and educational organizations, including the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village and the Armenian General Benevolent Union. Manoogian's appointment is effective Sept. 1 and brings the number of directors to 15. He is the fourth director appointed to the board since Bill Ford became chairman on Jan. 1, 1999.
