Bayside Automation Further Expands TRW Automotive Application, Latest Project Worth $1.8 Million to Enhance Lean Manufacturing Processes
CANONSBURG, Pa.--July 12, 2001--Bayside Automation, a leading supplier of automation systems and manufacturing product/process consulting services, today announced that TRW's Mesa, AZ site has purchased two Bayside-designed and fabricated roll over inflator (ROI) production systems for automotive air bag manufacturing.The project marks the fourth major assembly system that Bayside Automation has produced for TRW. This program is valued at approximately $1.8 million. The systems are scheduled for delivery in January 2002.
The growing demand for ROI devices by the automotive industry has increased the need for additional system capacity. The new systems will double existing production volumes. Bayside's design facilitates the assembly of five varieties of ROI's with minimal system changeover and supports TRW's lean manufacturing initiatives. Important design features include a conveyorless system and the ability to maintain critical product traceability throughout the process operations.
