USF Red Star Awarded "Carrier of the Year" Honors by The Home Depot
NEWARK, N.J.--July 11, 2001--USF Red Star Inc., a regional carrier unit of USFreightways Corporation, announced today that it was one of three carriers named "2000 Less-than-Truckload Carrier of the Year" by The Home Depot.Melanie Gray, Senior Transportation Manager Mid-Atlantic and New England made the announcement at The Home Depot's 2001 Logistics Conference. In her remarks, she recognized that USF Red Star has been a core carrier for The Home Depot since the first store opened in the region over 12 years ago. She went on to praise USF Red Star for its daily dependability and also for its willingness to meet whatever challenge is placed before them regardless of the circumstances. Wayne Gibson, Senior Vice President Global Servicing and Logistics; Lee Bandlow, Vice President Logistics; and LTL Manager Bruce Oswald joined Gray in presenting the award to USF Red Star President Brad Jones.
