(North Hollywood, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of the #45 Team Walker/Ron's Rear Ends/NAPA Chevrolet in the NASCAR Winston West Series, will make his first Winston West attempt at Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colo. in this Saturday's NAPA 250.
Woodside has only competed at CNS once before, and has never competed at the .375-mile oval in a Winston West car. He competed at CNS in a Featherlite Southwest Series event in the 2000 season, collecting an eighth-place finish.
"We tested at CNS a couple of weeks ago, and we're good," said Woodside. "Our short track program has shaped up pretty well."
Woodside and the team have won a Bud Pole Award and two third-place finishes in this season's short track events to date, in addition to the great results he has collected in the circuit's road course and superspeedway events.
Woodside has also accumulated wins and top-five finishes at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway, where he spends off-weekends competing in the track's Super Late Model program.
"The Super Late Model racing is fun, since there isn't the same points pressure that we have in the Winston West," Woodside continued. "The time we spend there keeps us in shape for these Winston West events."
Colorado fans will be able to meet Woodside and several members of the team personally at a go-cart competition fundraiser and silent auction to benefit the Colorado Special Olympics this Friday night. Woodside and a few other Winston West drivers will compete against four local celebrities and eight race fans in a special go-cart competition. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Boondocks Fun Center, 11425 Community Center Drive in Northglenn.
Team Walker Motorsports is a multi-team racing operation owned by Donna Walker and her son, Michael. The team fields the #45 Team Walker/Ron's Rear Ends/NAPA Chevrolet in the NASCAR Winston West Series, featuring driver Sean Woodside, and the #23 Team Walker/Ron's Rear Ends/Quixote/Sunset Expendables/NAPA Chevrolet in Irwindale Speedway's Super Late Model program, driven by Mike Walker. North Hollywood, Calif.-based Team Walker Motorsports debuted in 1999 with a limited Late Model schedule.
