TIMO BERNHARD TO JOIN PETERSEN MOTOSPORTS
LAS VEGAS – July 9, 2001 - Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing is pleased to announce that Porsche factory driver Timo Bernhard has joined their team to contest the remainder of this year’s American Le Mans GT Series.
Replacing the late Bob Wollek, Bernhard will join Englishman Johnny Mowlem behind the wheel of the Westward Ho Casino/MPIE sponsored Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
“We are extremely pleased to have Bernhard on board,” says team owner Mike Petersen. “He comes with excellent credentials and will definitely be a welcome addition to the team. His behind-the-wheel skills, coupled with those of Johnny Mowlem, should put
us in a strong position for consistent top finishes at every race.”
Hailing from Bruchmuhlbach-Miesau, Germany, Bernhard has been involved in racing for most of his life. Just 20 years old, this young rising star has already made his mark in the racing world. Starting with Karts at the age of ten, he has worked his way u
p through the ranks to being one of the elite contenders in the German Porsche Carrera Cup.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” says Bernhard, who drove with Alex Job Racing at Sebring earlier this season, driving with Randy Pobst and Christian Menzel. “My first race in the United States was Sebring,” he continues, “and we came in second
. This year is going to be a fantastic challenge for me. I am eager to learn all the new tracks and with Johnny Mowlem’s help, I think we will be able to do extremely well.”

x 24 that earned them the privilege of having two top-ranked Porsche drivers, plus full tech support.
