USAR Prepares to Invade Jennerstown.AGAIN

 

            Jennerstown, PA- The next race for the USAR Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division will be the ½ mile Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, PA for the running of the Lucas Oil 250.  Jennerstown was the site of the first Northern Division race on April 21,  Southern division driver Stacy Puryear collected the win, followed by rookie Donnie Hill, Mike Herman, Jr., Mardy Lindley, and Mart Nesbitt.  

            Donnie Hill, driver of the #00 Architect Glass Chevrolet, hopes that he can enter the pits at Jennerstown the same way he left it. 

"Only this time I want to win the trophy," Hill said during an interview.  "I look for this race to be the best race the fans have ever seen.  The track is amazing, you can run two wide all the way around it and it's pretty much smooth, and fast."  

The race at Jennerstown was the first that Hill had competed in with the Hooters ProCup Series.  So far he's happy with the team's performance. "My team is doing much better than I expected.  We are finishing in the top 10 every week, when all I envisioned was just to qualify for most of the races," said the resident of Columbus, OH.  "One thing I think has helped this team is, during our off weekends with the ProCup Series, we race our late model car at different short tracks around our home."   

"Another thing that has helped us a lot with the ProCup car are drivers like Bill Plemons, Jr. who have experience in this Series who have been really been helpful.  When ever you need any information, Bill Plemons is always there."  

Another driver finding out the answers to the Series questions is Jason McLellan, driver of the #3 McLellan Motorsports Pontiac.  "Running Jennerstown Speedway reminds me of running my home track.  You setup the car like you were going to run Varney Speedway, but Jennerstown is faster," said the resident of Mt. Forest, Ontario Canada.  Like Hill, McLellan is also very pleased with how this year is going. 

"With this series you have to adapt with the cars, they are bigger than anything I have driven before, and it takes you longer to find the groove, but that is part of the fun," said McLellan who is currently 10th in Northern Division points and collected a sixth place finish in Jennerstown.  "The team is really awesome.  Every race that we make is one more relief, but my goal for this year is to finish in the top three positions, and to keep enough points to make it to the championship races at the end of the year."

Practice for the running of the Lucas Oil 250 begins at 11 a.m., qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with the pole winner receiving $1,000 from Sunoco.  The green flag for the Lucas Oil 250 will fall at 7 p.m., followed by Jennerstown Speedway's Late Model class. The night's finale will be a fireworks display.
