Banana Joe's Takes Third at Road America

Banana Joe's Takes Third at Road America
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (July 8, 2001) - Despite a tough day, the #37 Banana Joe's/Intersport Racing Lola Judd finished third overall at the Road America 500.

One of the biggest problems the #37 machine faced was running without first or second gear.

"We were running a great race until we lost first and second gear," driver Clint Field said. "It's been a struggle, but we managed to keep the car out there and in contention."

Starting in fourth place, Jon Field quickly took the lead about 20 minutes into the race. On Lap 22, Clint climbed aboard the Lola Judd for the first time in a competitive situation.

He stepped up to the challenge and turned a 1:59.00.

Seven laps after taking over the wheel from his father, Clint spun in Turn 5 and despite stalling upon re-entry, was able to get the car back out on the track.

"It's very difficult to get up the Turn 5 hill with only your top three gears," Clint said.

"We hung in there and finished in the top three."

The next race for the #37 Banana Joe's/Intersport Lola Judd will be at Trois-Rivieres in Canada.
