Universal Technical Institute Seeks Candidates For Diversity Scholarship Program
Full Tuition and Housing Available For NASCAR-approved Training in Houston, Tex. PHOENIX, July 6 To encourage diversity among professional automotive technicians entering the industry, Universal Technical Institute (UTI), the nation's leader in automotive technical training, is seeking applicants for scholarships sponsored by the Dodge Motorsports Diversity Scholarship Program. But interested applicants must act fast. The scholarship application period concludes on Tuesday, July 17, 2001. Qualified scholarship recipients will receive full tuition and board to UTI's core automotive technology program in Houston, Texas. Training includes disciplines in diagnostic analysis and mechanical and electrical systems. In addition, the scholarship covers a NASCAR-approved training program unique to UTI's Houston campus. To be considered for one of six scholarships available this year, interested applicants must have successfully completed high school or be enrolled and in good academic standing at a post-secondary institution. In addition, candidates must belong to a recognized U.S. ethnic/racial minority group (i.e., Alaskan Native, African American, American Indian, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander). Also, recipients will be required to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) examination. Successful scholarship recipients must maintain an average 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) while enrolled in UTI's automotive technology program. All applications will be processed and evaluated by an independent agency. Recipients will be named by late summer 2001.
