Qualifying Notes for Race 1 at Road America
12:58 PM – GREEN, Cars roll for 30 minutes of qualifying for race 1 on
Sunday.
12:59 PM – Weather conditions are great as it’s sunny but not to hot or
humid.
1:00 PM – During testing the past two days the top-10 were all below the
current lap record of 2:16.727, set last year.
1:03 PM – Early in the session the top-five are No. 2 Gray, No. 89 LaPoint,
No. 82 Harrison, No. 55 Rodarte and No. 12 Constantine.
1:05 PM – No. 89 becomes the first driver to be below the current lap
record.
1:08 PM – Ten minutes into the session the top-five is No. 89, No. 6
Kasemets, No. 2, No. 55 and No. 33 Dyer.
1:10 PM – No. 89 has a quick time of 2:15.528.
1:12 PM – No. 25 Brinkmann has pulled his behind the wall with a gearbox
problem.
1:13 PM – Top-five is No. 89, No. 2, No. 6, No. 3 Bell and No. 12.
1:14 PM – No. 13 Kahne is in the pits, and the crew is looking at the
engine.
1:16 PM – No. 69 is now fifth fastest.
1:17 PM – No. 3 jumps into third place.
1:17 PM – Top-five is now No. 89, No. 2, No. 3, No. 6 and No. 33.
1:19 PM – No. 6 has posted the best time, 2:15.374.
1:20 PM – No. 89 retakes the top spot with a time of 2:15.338.
1:22 PM – Top-five is No. 89, No. 6, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 12.
1:22 PM – Top ACC car is No. 11 Rubenzer in 12 position overall.
1:23 PM – No. 55 Rodarte jumps to third with a time of 2:15.578.
1:24 PM – No. 6 jumps to the top of the chart with a lap of 2:15.299.
1:25 PM – Top-five is No. 6, No. 89, No. 55, No. 2 and No. 3.
1:25 PM – No. 12 has pulled into the pits and driver has exited the car.
1:26 PM – No. 23 Reinders has gone past the front straight with an off
sounding engine.
1:27 PM – No. 89 takes the top spot with a time of 2:14.862.
1:28 PM – CHECKERED.
1:29 PM – No. 89 LaPoint takes his second pole of the season with a new
track record of 2:14.862 (106.766 mph). Completing the top-three is No. 6
Kasemets and No. 89 Potekhen. Top ACC is 11 Rubenzer in 14th position
overall.
