Chrysler Group Reports U.S. June Sales Increase
* Chrysler Brand Sales Break June Mark By 16 Percent
* Jeep(R) Brand Sales Up Four Percent
* Dodge Car Sales Up 27 Percent
* Minivan Sales Up 22 Percent
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 3 Chrysler Group reported U.S.
sales of 218,633 units in June 2001, a one percent increase compared to June
2000.
Leading the way were Chrysler minivans with 45,350 units sold, up 22
percent from June 2000 and marking the third consecutive monthly sales
increase for minivan. Chrysler Town & Country set a new sales record for
June, selling 13,608 units, beating the previous June record set in 1996 by
5,678 units. Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan sales were also strong, selling
27,370 units, up 19 percent from last June.
"Jeep(R) Liberty is proving to be a major success," said Gary Dilts,
Senior Vice President - Sales. "Liberty is doing for Jeep dealers what PT
Cruiser did for our Chrysler dealers -- creating traffic and excitement." For
June 2001, Jeep dealers sold 8,884 Liberty models.
Orders for Liberty are even stronger, added Dilts.
"Chrysler Group received more than 60,000 orders for Liberty in the
vehicle's first 60 days, almost the identical rate received for the PT Cruiser
(61,000) when it was first introduced," said Dilts. "That's quite an
accomplishment considering Liberty was introduced into a very crowded
segment."
Other June Sales Highlights:
* Chrysler Group car sales of 59,714 were up 12 percent compared to
June 2000.
* Chrysler Sebring Coupe and Dodge Stratus Coupe set new sales records
for June selling 3,930 units. Sebring Coupe sales of 1,457 units represented
a 110 percent increase over June 2000.
* Chrysler PT Cruiser sales of 10,483 were up 32 percent compared to
June 2000.
* Chrysler-branded truck sales of 28,463 were up 37 percent, beating the
mark set in June 2000.
* Chrysler Sebring Convertible sales of 5,068 units were up 45 percent
over June 2000.
* Dodge Intrepid sales of 15,053 units were up 47 percent over June 2000.
* Dodge Neon sales of 11,923 units were up six percent over June 2000.
* Dodge Stratus Sedan sales of 8,454 units were up eight percent over
June 2000.
