Nissan Reports June Sales

    GARDENA, Calif., July 3 The Nissan Division of Nissan
North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced June sales of 57,868 units.  The
Nissan Altima led the division with sales of 13,238 units, up 10.4 percent
versus last year.  Nissan's Sentra sales also were up over last year, with
10,505 units for a 26.9 percent increase.  Sales for the flagship Maxima were
9,061 units, bringing total sedan sales to 32,805 units, up 5.8% versus last
year.
    Frontier had sales of 8,535 units while Xterra reported sales of 8,317.
Pathfinder and Quest recorded sales of 5,257 and 2,954 units, respectively,
bringing combined truck sales to 25,063 units for the month.
    Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles accounted for 75.3
percent of June sales.  Calendar year-to-date sales totaled 316,044 units,
versus 336,779 units in 2000.  Overall Nissan Division reported a 6.2 percent
decrease versus the corresponding month last year.  Combined sales for Nissan
and Infiniti Divisions for June totaled 63,744 units, a 5.0 percent decline
from June 2000.
