Michigan Economic Development Corporation Working to Keep SPX Corporation's Corporate Offices in Michigan

MEDC President & CEO Plans to Meet with SPX Officials Next Week

LANSING, Mich., July 3 Doug Rothwell, president & CEO of
the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), announced today that he
expects to meet with SPX Corporation officials next week to discuss plans to
keep the company's headquarters in Michigan.
Earlier today, SPX Corporation advised its corporate headquarter employees
that it will relocate its corporate offices, currently located in Muskegon,
within the next 12 months. The company named Charlotte, North Carolina and
Fairfax County, Virginia as the two finalist locations for the new
headquarters.
"The company has selected two out of state sites as the potential new
corporate headquarters," said Rothwell. "However, today company officials
have expressed to Governor Engler that they are willing to listen to our ideas
for keeping the corporate headquarters here and growing the corporation in
Michigan. We are willing to pull out all the stops to keep this valued
employer in the Great Lakes state."
SPX Corporation is global provider of technical products and systems,
industrial products and services, service solutions and vehicle components.
With the recently completed acquisition of United Dominion Industries, SPX is
