Sears Names Tenneco Automotive Nationwide Supplier of Shocks and Struts

   Monroe Products to Be Available at More Than 1,000 Sears and NTB Outlets
                                 Across U.S.

    LAKE FOREST, Ill., July 5 Tenneco Automotive
today announced a long-term agreement to supply shock absorbers and struts to
all 826 Sears Auto Centers and 225 National Tire and Battery (NTB) stores in
the United States.
    Tenneco Automotive's full line of Monroe shocks and struts -- including
the premium Sensa-Trac and Reflex products -- are scheduled to be available at
all 1,051 Sears and NTB outlets by Sept. 1.

said Dave Gabriel, senior vice president and general manager of Tenneco
Automotive's North American Aftermarket.  "Monroe has a reputation for

the tremendous brand awareness and impressive reach of Sears, with 1,051
installer locations nationwide."

    Sears will sell Monroe's Sensa-Trac, Reflex and Rancho brands.  All Monroe
products will be manufactured at Tenneco Automotive's facility in Paragould,
Ark., and shipped to the five Sears master distribution centers.
