PODIUM IN SITE - After achieving a pole position in only its fourth race, the Lexus IS 300 is looking for its first victory this weekend at Virginia International Raceway. Last weekend at Mosport, Terry Borcheller and Chuck Goldsborough put the No. 0 Team Lexus IS 300 on the pole with a new Grand-Am Cup Sports Touring (ST) class track record. The pair finished fourth in the ST class after running near the front the entire three-hour race. With Andy Lally behind the wheel, the No. 2 Team Lexus IS 300 led the first third of the race at Mid-Ohio on June 10. The IS ran as high as third and second in its first two Grand-Am Cup events at Phoenix and Watkins Glen.

The compact sports sedan's early potential caught the eye of ST-class hot shoe Jason Potter, who currently sits third in class-championship points, only five from the top. Potter joined Team Lexus last week prior to the Grand-Am Cup event at Mosport, where he and Lally finished sixth in the ST class. Potter had two ST wins in 2001 (Daytona and Homestead) and seven career victories prior to joining Team Lexus.

CHUCK GOLDSBOROUGH, Team Lexus Owner/Driver: "The IS 300 is progressing really nicely; quite a bit for just four races. The car is quick, reliable and really nimble. We're looking forward to being on the podium very soon - particularly this weekend at V.I.R."
