Northern Light IRL: Suntrust Indy Challenge Event Happenings

RICHMOND, Va., - Event happenings leading up to and during the SunTrust Indy Challenge on June 28-30 at Richmond International Raceway:
SCHEDULE:
The SunTrust Indy Challenge starts at 8 p.m. (EDT) June 30. MBNA Pole Qualifying starts at 3:30 p.m. June 29. Practice sessions start at 3:30 and 7 p.m. June 28 and 12:30 and 7 p.m. June 29.
ON THE AIR:
The SunTrust Indy Challenge will be televised live on ESPN at 8 p.m. (EDT) June 30. "Indy Racing 2Day" will be televised live at 7:30 p.m. June 30 on ESPN2.
ESPN2 will televise MBNA Pole qualifying at 12:30 a.m. (EDT) June 30.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network will broadcast a 30-minute pre-race show at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) June 30, followed by the live race broadcast at 8 p.m.
The area IMS Radio Network affiliate is WRVA-AM 1140, Richmond, Va.
TICKETS:
Tickets for the SunTrust Indy Challenge are available by calling (804) 354-7223, logging on to www.rir.com or by going to the Richmond International Raceway Box Office. FREE THURSDAY:
Admission is free Thursday at Richmond International Raceway, as all fans can see three hours of Indy Racing Northern Light Series practice at no charge.
Practice starts at 3:30 and 7 p.m. (EDT).
NICE DEAL:
Two special ticket packages are being offered for the SunTrust Indy Challenge.
The Kroger Family Pack is $99 and includes four tickets, four post-race garage passes, four hats and one program. The Kroger Couples Pack is $55 and includes two tickets, two post-race garage passes, two hats and one program.
The packages are available at all participating Kroger stores in Virginia and North Carolina.
NICE DEAL, PART II:
All children 12 and under receive free admission all weekend when accompanied by an adult.
FIREWORKS:
A fireworks display will take place following the SunTrust Indy Challenge on Saturday night, June 30.
SUNTRUST AND DELPI CAR APPEARANCES:
A SunTrust Indy Challenge car will be on display in the midway of Richmond International Raceway June 28-30. The Delphi Indy Racing Car will also be displayed at the Hilton at the Airport in Richmond, Va. on those dates.
THUNDER FROM THE ROCKIES:
The Coors Light Indy Racing car will be displayed at Jackson Circle in Fort Lee, Va., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 28. The car will also be shown the same day at the Fort Lee Class 6 store from 2-6 p.m.
On June 29, the car will be on display at Lowe's store at 2501 Sheila Lane from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Richmond, Va., and from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Lowe's store at 9490 W. Broad St. in Richmond.
The car also will be on display from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 30 at Hollywood Video, 7260 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Richmond.
KROGER INDY RACING CAR:
The Kroger Indy Racing car will be displayed at several Kroger locations in Virginia this week.
The car will be at 9480 West Broad St. in Richmond form 4-7 p.m. June 27. Also the car will be displayed at 2801 Hicks Road in Richmond from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 12201 S. Chalkley Road in Chester from 4-7 p.m. June 28.
The car will be at 3631 Petters Creek in Roanoke from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. June 29 and also at 5050 Rutgers St. in Roanoke from 4-7 p.m. the same day. The car will also be displayed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at SunTrust Center in Richmond on June 27.
INDY RACING, SOMETHING TO SEE:
Indy Racing League spokesperson Elaine Irwin-Mellencamp will appear with the SunTrust Indy Challenge car on "Good Morning Richmond" on WRIC-TV Channel 8 in Richmond, Va. between 6-7 a.m. Friday, June 29.
SIGN HERE PLEASE:
An autograph session with Indy Racing drivers will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 29 behind the Commonwealth Grandstand. The session is free of charge.
