Inland Kenworth in Fontana Named Kenworth Customer Support Dealer of Year
KIRKLAND, Wash., June 26, 2001 - Inland Kenworth in Fontana, Calif. captured
top dealer honors at the recent Kenworth Customer Support Meeting in
Indianapolis.
Inland Kenworth in Fontana was named Kenworth Customer Support Dealer of the
Year for its outstanding efforts in providing customers with parts and
service support. The dealership bested Kenworth's 295 dealers in the United
States and Canada to win the award.
"Our dealership is extremely honored to receive this award," said Mark
Zucker, general manager for both Inland Kenworth in Fontana and its sister
store in Los Angeles. "We're very fortunate to have a staff dedicated to
serving our customers in every way that they can. Our operation strongly
emphasizes teamwork, particularly across departments, to ensure that we try
to satisfy each customer's needs."
"Perhaps the best asset at Inland Kenworth in Fontana is their great group
of employees," noted Paul Skoog, Kenworth director of dealer support. "The
employees possess good technical abilities across parts, service and body
shop departments while utilizing the latest technologies to serve customers.
Management has helped it become known as a good place to work, so the
dealership has a lot of long-tenured employees and very little turnover."
Also announced at the meeting were Kenworth's Regional Customer Support
Dealers of the Year. These winners by region were: Canada - Edmonton
Kenworth, Edmonton, Alb.; Central - MHC Kenworth, Grand Junction, Colo.;
Northeast: Wisconsin Kenworth, Madison, Wis.; and Southeast - Truck
Enterprises Roanoke, Roanoke, Va. Inland Kenworth was also the West regional
winner.
The Kenworth Customer Support Meeting is a two-day conference devoted
entirely to strengthening customer service and support after the sale. More
than 500 Kenworth parts, service and body shop managers, and top dealership
management attended this year's event. Participants attended six seminar
sessions on customer-related topics and gained useful information at a
comprehensive trade fair featuring over 100 truck parts suppliers.
Zucker noted that Inland Kenworth continues to strengthen its customer
support. The dealership recently invested approximately $500,000 to upgrade
its body shop. "The completed body shop has a state-of-the-art frame
straightening rack and a heated, 53-foot paint booth," Zucker said.
Inland Kenworth also runs a full service shop with a dynometer, front-end
alignment and other equipment to cover all the major component areas. The
dealership offers a dedicated service bay for jobs of two hours or less. "We
also support all of the Kenworth PremierCare programs," Zucker added.
In addition, Inland Kenworth offers some special services. "If we know the
customer's truck is going to be in service for an extended time, and the
repair bill reaches a certain dollar amount, we put them up at our expense,"
Zucker said. "We've also contracted with local rental companies and taxi
services to help customers go wherever they need to go while their truck is
being worked on."
Inland Kenworth is located at 9730 Cherry Avenue in Fontana. The facility is
open from 7 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
on both Saturday and Sunday.
"We deliver parts all hours that we're open," noted Zucker. "We also have
staff on call around the clock and operate a mobile service van to assist
customers."
The dealership's truck sales department is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday
through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

manager Richard Uribe, director of parts and service Richard Cawley, parts
manager Mary Thomas, service manager Mike Treadway, and body shop manager
Larry Pierce.
