Ross Fonferko of Wheaton, Ill. remained "undefeated" in the Russell/USAC Triple Crown Pro Series presented by Yokohama, leading the final 17 laps of Saturday's 23-lap contest at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Fonferko, who won the series opener at Bakersfield, Calif. in May, started on the front row and assumed command of the race on lap seven when Victory Hugo Quieroz, the fastest qualifier and pole starter, spun in turn two. Fonferko stayed in front to post a 10.315-second victory over Quieroz, while David Mayhew, Cory Turner and Brett Arsenault rounded out the "top-five" at the checkered flag.

Fonferko emerged with an 11-point lead over Mayhew in the standings going into the final round of the three-race series July 22 at Sears Point's 2.52-mile circuit. The drivers are competing for a championship purse of $10,000 in cash and a two-race ride with Cape Motorsports in the final US F2000 event at Daytona Beach, Fla. September 15-16.
