CARELLI TAKES MEMPHIS ARCA POLE

MILLINGTON TENN, 6-21-01 - The last time Rick Carelli raced at Memphis
Motorsports Park, the Arvada, Colorado driver was whisked away to a
Memphis hospital where he would stay for ten days in the intensive care
unit fighting for his life. More than two years later, the driver of the
RE/MAX Int'l Chevy has conquered the tough 3/4-mile bullring. The NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series veteran stopped the clock at 22.974 seconds
(117.524 mph) to win the Old Milwaukee Pole Award for Friday's Memphis
ARCA 150 bumping Frank Kimmel off the pole in the final minutes of
qualifying.

Kimmel, in the Advance Auto Parts-Pork Chevy, will join Carelli in row
one for Friday's race with a speed of 117.238. Tim Steele, who has
recently closed within 55 point of Kimmel in the championship points
battle, qualified third at 116.379 ahead of 2000 NASCAR All Pro champion
and Craftsman Truck Series regular Billy Bigley at 116.374 and Laurel,
Mississippi driver Robert Burroughs at 116.249 to complete the top-five.
