Shines In CBS Overnight Ratings
Finishes Third On Weekend Amongst Racing Programming
Miami - The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup today announced
that its overnight ratings for the Motor City 100 presented by Johnson
Controls was a 1.0 rating and a 2 share. For the weekend, Trans-Am finished
third in the overnights and trailed only the NASCAR Winston Cup and the
NASCAR Busch Series.
“We are ecstatic with the results of our first ever network appearance for
the Trans-Am Series,” said Trans-Am’s Dennis Huth. “This is reflective of
the product that Trans-Am has stood for for so many years - Good solid
entertainment for race fans throughout the country.”
The Motor City 100 presented by Johnson Controls, which was aired on a
one-day taped delay basis on June 17, was the Trans-Am Series’ first major
network television appearance. It outdrew both the IRL (0.8 rating/2 share)
and CART (0.7 rating/2 share) races which were carried live by ABC.
Round five of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup, the
Trans-Am Series 100 presented by Simple Green, will start at 4:45 on June
30. The race, part of the Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland presented by
Firestar, will be broadcast by CBS on July 1 at 5:00 (EDT).
