itelligence, Inc. Customizes Interface to SAP Solutions With Wireless Bar Coding Solution for Leading Automotive Company; Implementation Provides Efficient End-To-End Solution

CINCINNATI--June 21, 2001--itelligence, Inc., an SAP(R) Services Partner and one of the largest authorized SAP Certified Business Solutions (CBS) resellers in the United States, recently announced a smooth transition to mySAP.com(TM) and its supply chain management solution for ZF Batavia.
ZF Batavia is a $400 million leading tier 1 automotive supplier that was formed by a joint venture between Ford Motor Co. and ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
itelligence equipped ZF Batavia with the mySAP.com solution that seamlessly integrates their use of wireless bar coding with SAP R/3 and functionality from the Automotive Solution, therefore enabling accurate tracking of serialized transmissions by handling unit. Not only does this solution provide a significant improvement in tracking exactly which transmissions were sent to which customers, it provides superior assurances that transmissions identified for quality inspections do not get shipped to customers prior to the inspection taking place.
The RF bar coding functionality is also being used to accurately ensure data flow throughout the supply chain. Improved inventory accuracy and real time inventory counts, available online within SAP R/3, have increased the speed in which informed decisions can be made regarding changes to manufacturing schedules.
itelligence consultants worked side by side with representatives from ZF Batavia and Ford Motor Co. to complete the first phase of ZF Batavia's long-term supply chain management technology, which includes an electronic communication strategy with their suppliers. The initial phase called for converting all existing inbound and outbound EDI transactions to be compatible with SAP R/3. The long-term strategy is to reduce the dependency on EDI and significantly increase the use of e-commerce.
"SAP and itelligence have given us the ability to continue to ensure that our customers are satisfied. Now that we are a stand-alone facility, this is more important than ever. We can be confident that their products are traceable, their orders are accurate and their shipments are delivered faster than before," said Mark Greiner, Director of Information Technology, at ZF Batavia. "It's a more cost-effective way for us to do business."
"The scalability of mySAP.com has permitted ZF Batavia to streamline the process of its business, optimizing its production arm and internal office systems," said Chuck Stahl, CEO, itelligence, Inc. "We've created a solution that helps ZF Batavia better serve their customers by simplifying the logistics process."
The wireless bar-coding solution is an integral part of ZF Batavia's Phase II implementation, which exclusively focuses on the production side of their business. The solution "went live" on March 31, 2001. Phase I of the ZF Batavia installation was completed after the company evolved from a cost center into a stand-alone business. In November 2000, itelligence implemented the first part of Phase II of the SAP installation by replacing over 100 Ford-supported legacy systems with SAP Automotive 2.0. During these phases, itelligence has also acted as an implementation partner with other programs that cooperatively interface with the SAP system.
Please join ZF Batavia for their presentation at the Supply Chain Management Theatre on Friday, June 15, 2001 at 1 p.m.
    (a) Please note, the session was originally scheduled for 3 p.m.

    About ZF Batavia

ZF Batavia is a joint venture formed between ZF Friedrichshafen AG of Germany and Ford Motor Company in January 1999. The facility was previously a Ford transmission manufacturing plant. The joint venture was formed in order to mass-produce a new technology in transmissions called a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). While the final CVT development and capital acquisition of manufacturing equipment is taking place, the facility continues to build the automatic transmissions they had been making while a Ford facility. Plans are for the manufacture of these transmissions eventually to be phased out, leaving the facility dedicated to the production of CVT transmissions.
