Exile on Seventh Sets New Standards for Banner Ads with oplayo's Streaming Video Technology; AutoTrader.com Campaign to Feature Fastest-Loading Video Streams

    LONG BEACH, Calif.--June 20, 2001--
Streaming Media West, Booth No. 109

oplayo inc., a premier developer of advanced, plug-in-free, Java-based streaming video technologies, today announced that Exile on Seventh, a full-service online marketing and advertising agency with clients such as eBay and WebVan, has selected oplayo's streaming video technology for its email marketing and banner ad campaigns.
The first campaign, created for AutoTrader.com, is scheduled to launch later this summer.
oplayo's technology enables advertisers to deliver ads with TV-like rich video and audio that is far faster than anything currently available on the market today. With oplayo, users with dial-up modem connections can view ads within seconds. Because no plug-ins are required, advertisers can double the reach of online campaigns and connect with the vast number of Internet users who do not have media viewers or other plug-ins -- about half of all Internet users.
"oplayo enables us to advertise with eye-grabbing media that is fun, entertaining and is as effective in communicating the benefits of the AutoTrader.com brand as our TV commercial," says Clark Wood, vice president of marketing, AutoTrader.com. "With oplayo, our campaigns will set new standards for online marketing and help us to reach a new and very large group of potential customers."
"oplayo's technology delivers on the untapped potential of online advertising, reaching the broadest possible audience in the fastest, most cost-effective way possible," said Rob Berryman, president of Exile on Seventh. "With oplayo, we are changing the face of banner ads and creating online campaigns that will drive leads and ultimately sales for our clients."

    About oplayo

oplayo provides convenient, cost-effective, plug-in-free, Java-based streaming video technologies for fixed Internet and wireless devices. oplayo's products enable faster streaming video delivery, easier viewing and broader audience reach than standard plug-ins or media players. Based on an internationally patented motion vector quantization (MVQ) Java-based technology, oplayo's solutions compress distributed video content into an extremely light packet for both fixed Internet and wireless devices. The end-user's computer or mobile device automatically decompresses and shows the packet with an accompanying small Java applet (approximately 10K). The applet player can be received in only a few seconds, eliminating the need for plug-ins or media players. In addition, sending content with oplayo requires only a standard Web server. Thus companies can maximize their existing Web infrastructure and avoid additional investments in specialized hardware such as streaming video servers.
oplayo's technology can be deployed to virtually any PC or Java-enabled device. Because oplayo is well suited for delivering video via e-mail, it is the optimal solution for innovative marketing and infotainment applications such as music videos, movie trailers, news and sports highlights. The oplayo solution also provides new channels for corporate communications, including investor briefings, Web-based training, customer support and marketing functions.
Founded in 1999, oplayo's U.S. operations are based in Vienna, Virginia, with corporate headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. Oplayo's investors include Nokia Venture Partners and TEKES, the National Technology Agency of Finland. Additional information about oplayo can be found at http://www.oplayo.com.
