Saturn Announces 2000 Supplier Recognition Award Winners
SPRING HILL, Tenn. – More than 200 suppliers were honored in Tennessee as Saturn Corporation held its annual Supplier Recognition Award Ceremony. Representatives from the various supplier companies participated in the event, which is in its ninth year. "Some of our suppliers have been with us since the beginning," said Bill Hurles, Saturn vice president for Purchasing. "It’s been a long road, reaching this milestone event. One of the primary objectives in coming together here today is to recognize our suppliers' accomplishments in helping us succeed."
The 202 recognized supplier companies earned Saturn’s Quality Recognition Award for meeting stringent quality criteria. Within the larger group, 111 suppliers earned the Saturn Outstanding Achievement Recognition Award for superior performance in the areas of quality, service and price.
"You made us who we are," Jerry Childers, UAW coordinator for Material Management, said to the gathering of Saturn suppliers. "So when you see those Saturn commercials on TV celebrating our ten year anniversary, remember that you are a part of the Saturn family. You are a big part of why we’re still here ten years later."
Three suppliers received the Most Improved Award and one was awarded the Saturn University award, for their commitment to continuous improvement through training.
