PlanetCAD Announces Release of Flagship PrescientQA Software Suite; PrescientQA 4.1 for CATIA V4 Will Be the First Release in the Series

    BOULDER, Colo.--June 19, 2001--PlanetCAD Inc. (AMEX:PCD), a leading developer of engineering software solutions that integrate engineering processes and data with the manufacturing supply chain, today announced the release of version 4.1 of the Company's flagship PrescientQA(TM) software suite. Version 4.1, which incorporates the award-winning DesignQA(R) 4.1 application, is now available for CATIA(R) v 4.x. and has been tested and approved by major customers.
    The multi-platform PrescientQA solution suite is designed to significantly improve manufacturers' product time-to-market and decrease manufacturing costs by assuring and improving design standards and geometry quality early in the design process. PrescientQA is also effective when implemented throughout the manufacturing supply chain to ensure that distributed design data retains high levels of quality and value.
    PrescientQA, which includes the proprietary components DesignQA, GeometryQA(TM), DriveQA(TM) and CertifyQA(TM), is used by more than 100 blue chip manufacturing companies worldwide in the automotive, aerospace and consumer product manufacturing industries. The product supports CATIA v 4.1 to 4.2.3.
    Jim Day, a design engineer at Black and Decker and a beta tester for PrescientQA, had the following comments about DesignQA v. 4.1:

-- "Models were checked two to three times faster than in previous versions;
-- The configuration tool has been dramatically improved. The Windows-style interface eliminates repetitive tasks that were time consuming;
-- The help section has been improved to include actual CATIA models which convey a clear description of the model error and a corrective action."

    PrescientQA version 4.1 offers a comprehensive feature set that is unsurpassed by the quality control products of PlanetCAD's competitors. New features include:

    -- Improved interface for clearer reports and visual
    identification of geometric errors, including Windows-style
    interface for the Unigraphics-supported version.

    -- Advanced Supply Chain Management tools including version
    control, password protection and file-level Quality Stamping
    for design standards files.

    -- More than 100 additional standards across the supported CAD
    Systems, bringing the total out-of-the-box standards supported
    to more than 300.

    -- For the first time, PrescientQA also offers the Engineering
    Checklist tool within the Unigraphics version, which automates
    the process of tracking the list of items that a designer must
    complete for each phase of the design release process, is
    fully customizable and is stored in the model as a permanent
    record.

    -- The capability to add custom fields to the quality metrics
    data captured by PrescientQA, which provides greater
    flexibility to collect or subdivide quality metrics data to
    more easily track six sigma initiatives, pinpoint key issues
    and drive process improvements with DriveQA.
