Condolences are extended to the family of Kentuckian and former ARCA driver Bill Green, who died Tuesday, June 12. He was 56.

Green was the 1977 ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie of the Year and father of current series driver Willie Green.

The elder Green drove in 44 ARCA RE/MAX Series race events in the late 70s and early 80s, with a standout season in his rookie year winning 4 races and 5 poles and finishing as championship runner-up to Moose Myers. His victories came at Tri-County Speedway in Cincinnati, Baer Field Raceway in Ft. Wayne Indiana, Avilla Speedway in Indiana and Flat Rock Speedway in Michigan. He went on to finish 5th in points in ’78, 3rd in ’79, 7th in ’80 and 3rd again in ’82. His best superspeedway finishes came at Talladega, where he was 3rd in 1978 and 2nd in 1982.

Willie Green posted his best career finish of 5th at Kentucky Speedway on May 12 of this season with his father looking on.

Green first raced in 1968 and was a 3-time champion at Tri County Speedway and 2-time champion at Northern Kentucky Speedway in Union.

Green was the father of seven and a longtime trucking company owner. He had battled heart problems recently.

Services were held Friday, June 14 at the Don Catchen & Son funeral home in Erlanger, Kentucky.
