CART: Toyota responds to new pop off valve rules

Toyota statement in reference to CART's issuance of a new pop-off valve configuration beginning this weekend at Detroit:

As with the other two CART engine manufacturers, Toyota was first issued CART's new pop-off valve configuration on Tuesday at tests at Michigan and Mid-Ohio. Upon issuance, it was the first time that Toyota had seen the new valve installation. It was tested at both Michigan and Mid-Ohio, as well as dynamometer tested later in the week with no performance affect on the Toyota RV8F. The new pop-off configuration has required absolutely no change to the Toyota engines that have run in competition on the mandated 37 inches of boost since the opening race in March. Toyota is completely in favor of any CART ruling that allows the sanctioning body to continue to vigorously enforce its rules and regulations.
