PRC-DeSoto Launches Low VOC Top Coat for Military Applications
PARIS--June 15, 2001--PRC-DeSoto International, a PPG Industries company based in Glendale, Calif., has launched a low VOC (volatile organic compound), high-solids top coat for military aircraft and land-based defense vehicles. The Desothane CA8300 top coat is chemical-agent resistant, and has low reflectivity to infrared and solar energy for reduced visibility, according to Roald Johannsen, European aerospace marketing director.
"The coating meets the extremely demanding performance requirements for military aircraft and land-based defense vehicles," Johannsen said. "Additionally, compared with conventional coatings, it has higher solids so less material can be used to achieve the needed coverage, and a lower percentage of solvent for reduced VOC emissions when being applied."
Available in a full range of colors and glosses, Desothane CA8300 top coat can be applied over Desoprime AQ water-based primers from PRC-DeSoto for a complete, environmentally friendly system, Johannsen said.
A team of PRC-DeSoto aerospace coatings and sealants experts is available during the Paris Air Show to discuss color and coatings choices for operators and airframe manufacturers at the PPG Aerospace exhibit at stand H1, hall 2B June 16 through June 24.
Also on display are aircraft windshields and windows from PPG's aircraft transparencies business.
PRC-DeSoto is a global leader in aerospace coatings and sealants. The world's largest manufacturer of aircraft windshields, windows and canopies, PPG also is a global supplier of glass, coatings, fiber glass and chemicals.
