Supplier of Plastic Parts Selects QAD Software To Grow Its Enterprise
CARPINTERIA, Calif.--June 12, 2001--QAD , a leading provider of collaborative commerce applications for global manufacturing enterprises and their private exchanges, today announced that Continental Plastics, a leading manufacturer of injection molded interior and exterior automotive products for General Motors, has selected best-in-class QAD MFG/PRO enterprise software with EDI ECommerce to help it compete more effectively and support its ongoing growth.
"Our company is growing at a good pace and we needed to step up to a world-class e-commerce enabled enterprise solution to support our needs and the needs of our customers," said Russ Thomas, Continental Plastics' vice president of sales and marketing. "QAD applications provide the automotive-specific functionality and e-business capabilities we will need to compete even more effectively and deliver better performance."
QAD's ECommerce system, chosen by the manufacturer as a complement to MFG/PRO, significantly reduces the need for additional EDI programming and prepares companies to do business at a fraction of the time and cost of most conventional ERP software systems.
With the EDI functionality embedded in QAD applications, users simply download EDI templates from a variety of libraries. EDI ECommerce then edits and transforms electronic data travelling in either direction based upon trading partner tables.
An authorized QAD Sales Agent and implementation partner, RCM Technologies guided Continental Plastics through the solution selection process and will provide implementation services. "One of the main reasons we chose RCM and QAD was for the professionalism of their people," said Thomas.
"At the end of the day, we needed people who had the direct experience and know-how in our industry to roll up their sleeves and help us get the job done in a timely and cost-effective manner. RCM demonstrated a good understanding of our business needs and of the QAD MFG/PRO product."
Continental Plastics will follow an aggressive implementation schedule that will begin delivering value in a matter of a few months. Continental Plastics' selection process began in 1998, but was temporarily put on hold while the company massaged its current system to pull it through Y2K.
The process was resumed in mid-2000 and QAD was chosen as the best fit in the first quarter of 2001. QAD is the leading provider of ERP systems to automotive suppliers, supporting 13 of 25 of the largest such manufacturers in the world with software that offers deep industry-specific functionality.
