TRW and PTC Form Strategic Alliance

    NEEDHAM, Mass. & RESTON, Va.--June 11, 2001--

PTC's Windchill to Become a Cornerstone of TRW's New Worldwide Enterprise Collaboration Solutions Practice

    PTC , the product development company(TM), and technology company TRW Inc. today announced a strategic alliance to jointly offer collaborative product commerce (CPC) solutions.
    CPC is a process that companies use to involve suppliers, partners and key customers in designing, manufacturing and delivering products collaboratively across departments, business units, and geographies. The alliance is based on PTC's Net-native Windchill CPC solution and leverages the CPC capabilities and expertise of both companies.
    Under the agreement, TRW has become a premier partner in PTC's Enterprise Consulting Partner Program. PTC's Windchill solution suite will be a cornerstone in TRW's new Enterprise Collaboration Solutions practice.
    TRW will utilize Windchill to transform customers' product development processes through enhanced collaboration that will substantially reduce time-to-market and accelerate top-line revenue growth.
    TRW's engineering, manufacturing and CPC domain experience complements PTC's market-tested software solutions and services expertise. The two companies will initially leverage each other's strengths to deploy innovative and unique solutions to customers developing complex and mission-critical products in the automotive, aerospace and defense, semiconductor and government verticals.

    TRW Systems has previously utilized PTC's Windchill application to develop a highly successful product data management solution for a key government customer. The two companies are already jointly pursuing a number of opportunities where their respective software and deployment skills will help make companies more competitive.

Feltner, a former executive with Ford Motor Company, has more than 30 years of product development optimization experience in the automotive industry.     The partnership includes technical personnel cross-training, joint marketing and sales programs, and ongoing planning sessions to continually leverage each partner's strengths.
