IFS Signs Contracts for $1.5 Million with Automakers BMW and MG Rover
CHICAGO--June 11, 2001--IFS has signed contracts with automakers BMW and MG Rover to provide business software and services valued at $1.5 million.Both companies will implement IFS' component-based software in operations in the United Kingdom.
IFS will provide a complete enterprise solution for BMW, including modules for sales and marketing, financials, manufacturing, supply chain management, engineering, human resources and maintenance functions. BMW will implement the system in its Swindon sheet metal pressing plant.
MG Rover will replace a legacy business system with IFS modules for financials, human resources and purchasing. It will implement the system in its vehicle assembly plant in Longbridge.
"These orders show that we have a highly competitive product for the automotive industry. We won in tough competition with the most respected suppliers by scoring higher on functionality and flexibility of our portal-based user interface," said Alastair Sorbie, managing director of IFS UK.
In April, IFS also signed a contract with BMW to implement software and services for three sheet metal pressing plants in Germany. That contract was valued at approximately $2.2 million.
