Bell Mobility, Wysdom and F1-Live! Give Racing Fans
WAP Access To Formula 1 Results
WAP Site Created In A Matter Of Days Using
Wysdom's Patented 'MAP Blueprints' Development Tool
Montreal, PQ - Air Canada Grand Prix, June 8, 2001 - In a move to 'drive'
the power of wireless to one of the most popular sports in the world,
Wysdom, a wireless software and infrastructure company announced that it has
built the first ever real-time Formula 1 (F1) WAP site for cell phones in
North America. The site will be offered as part of Bell Mobility's wireless
Internet Mobile Browser service. Race fans will be able to access F1
results, lap times, team statistics and driver information over any
WAP-enabled wireless device.
A testament to the benefits of Wysdom's rapid application development tool
MAP Blueprints (MBp), the F1 WAP site was engineered in just two weeks. The
site draws on data feeds from F1-Live!, refreshing every 60 seconds to give
fans the latest information in both French and English. By current WAP
standards, the site is considered very scalable and is expected to serve
live data to approximately 100,000 unique visitors this weekend.
Bell Canada is the official telecommunications sponsor of the Air Canada
Grand Prix. Bell Mobility, a division of Bell Canada, will feature the F1
site on its WAP home page aka 'home deck.' An 'F1' bookmark has been added
to the Mobile Browser's 'What's New?' section for easy access to the
service. This will enable users to open their mobile browsers and easily
access the F1 site.
"Wysdom has helped us break new ground by developing a wireless site that
allows for real-time access to information that moves beyond traditional
data delivery such as stock quotes and horoscopes," said Pierre Kelly,
Market Manager, Business Development, wireless Internet for Bell Mobility.
"This deployment demonstrates our ability to help leading Carriers like Bell
Mobility deploy large scale wireless solutions quickly and easily," said
Kashif Hassan, CEO and co-founder of Wysdom Inc. "Our team is well-equipped
to assist Carriers as they work to extend the benefits of wireless to their
customers."
Built on Wysdom's Mobyle Application Platform(tm) (MAP), MAP Blueprints is
employed to develop wireless, desktop or web applications for multiple
devices and protocols. It offers a patented error-avoidance system, visual
programming and reusable libraries that can be fully customized and
configured to meet a customer's needs.
