Lear Recognizes Eight Suppliers In Third Annual Hall of Fame

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 8 Lear Corporation
today announced that it has named eight companies as recipients of the Third
Annual Lear Corporation Supplier Hall of Fame Awards based on best-in-class
service to Lear's North American Operations in 2000.
The award-winning companies are selected using the Lear Supplier Rating
System, which measures quality, delivery, service and competitiveness. The
awards were presented last night during a recognition event at Lear World
Headquarters.
"At Lear, we place great emphasis on rewarding excellence," said Bob
Rossiter, Lear President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our top priority is
customer satisfaction and the superb performance of these eight Hall of Fame
recipients demonstrates that they share our philosophy."
This year's awardees were chosen from more than 1,500 companies that
supply Lear in North America.
"Although it's impossible to acknowledge the efforts of all our supplier
partners, each and every one of them plays a crucial role in the success of
Lear," said Steve Hayworth, Lear Vice President of Global Purchasing.
The Lear Corporation Supplier Hall of Fame Award recipients for 2000 are:
Cuinba
Cuinba of Leon, Mexico is one of Lear's largest, full-service leather
suppliers.
With numerous manufacturing facilities in Mexico, Cuinba has shown
throughout the year that customer satisfaction is their primary objective.
Attention to detail and impressive cost controls make Cuinba a valuable member
of the Lear team.
Dow Automotive
Dow Automotive is a leading global supplier of materials including
polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, ABS, polycarbonate, engineered resins,
polyurethanes and adhesive films.
Dow Automotive optimizes its materials and systems through comprehensive
research and development activities, design, engineering, testing, and
validation services.
Dura Automotive Systems, Inc.
Dura Automotive Systems, Inc. has become Lear's largest external supplier
as a result of its recent acquisition of Excel Automotive and Meritor Seat
Systems.
Dura is a premier supplier of seat mechanisms and structures in several of
Lear's major seat programs and a key global partner with Lear. Superb design
and innovation capabilities allow Dura to continue to assist Lear in becoming
the leader in advanced automotive seating technology.
The Freudenberg Nonwovens Group
The Freudenberg Nonwovens Group is a manufacturer of non-woven facings and
value-added products for automotive interiors.
Their strength is their ability to work closely with Lear. They
continuously evaluate market needs and requirements and strive to meet our
needs.
Freudenberg has been successful in implementing Supplier Assisted Value
Engineering (SAVE) initiatives for scrim backing used in four Lear plants.
The company has also conducted "new product" presentations to Lear's
Technology Division in the areas of seats, headliners and acoustical products
and has acted as an extension of Lear's resources to devise solutions to our
toughest problems.
Heritage Environmental Services, LLC
Heritage Environmental Services, Inc., of Indianapolis, Ind., is a full-
service supplier of by-product (waste) management services for Lear North
America.
Heritage and Lear partnered in October 2000 to aggressively improve Lear's
by-product (waste) disposal practices and associated costs while working
toward lowering the total volume of by-product production.
Heritage will achieve this by evaluating each site for proper by-product
stream handling and possible recycling opportunities.
Additionally, Heritage achieved ISO 14001 third-party certification status
at their Indianapolis facility, which will support Lear's ongoing effort to
implement ISO 14001 worldwide.
Motorola SPS Transportation Systems Group
Motorola Inc. is a global leader in providing integrated communications
solutions and embedded electronic solutions. Their Transportation Systems
Group is one of the largest electronic component suppliers and a global
partner to Lear's Electronics and Electrical Division.
Motorola TSG for Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS) is headquartered in
Austin, Tex. and provides leadership in serving automotive customers' needs
worldwide in advanced vehicle systems, including driver information systems,
body electronics and occupant safety systems.
Renosol Corporation
Renosol Corporation of Ann Arbor, Mich., is a supplier of polyurethane
systems, molded polyurethane seating and interior trim products for the
automotive industry from its manufacturing facilities in Ohio and Michigan.
With experience dating back to the 1950s, Renosol continues to expand
their business in the domestic and transplant automotive seat-foam sector.
Sierra Plastics, Inc. Division of Gemini Group
Sierra Plastics of El Paso, Tex., is a subsidiary of Gemini Group and is a
leading diverse manufacturer of extruded plastics in the global automotive
market.
Sierra is one of Lear's key suppliers with engineering/design capability
as well as in-house tool design and manufacturing. Sierra supplies product
throughout the world, proving their global capability.
