Siemens A&D Takes Equity Position in Ivara - Investment in the Growing Enterprise Asset Management Market of MES Products and Solutions for e-Manufacturing
NUREMBERG/ERLANGEN, Germany & BURLINGTON, Ontario-- June 7, 2001--Siemens Automation & Drives (A&D) is continuing to strengthen its position in the areas of manufacturing execution systems (MES) for e-manufacturing. Another step on the road to achieving its objective is an investment equal to 15 per cent of the shares of Ivara Corporation, based in Burlington, Ontario, which Siemens A&D announced on June 7, 2001.Ivara is a leading supplier of maintenance and reliability solutions including Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Expert Maintenance Systems (EXP) and Maintenance and Reliability consulting services, which are used to plan and coordinate maintenance activities with the objective of reducing maintenance costs. Siemens markets the Ivara Software worldwide under the name cube Maintegrity as a Plant Maintenance Management System (PMMS) and part of its Industry Suite.
In June 2000 Ivara and Siemens had already announced a cooperation agreement to integrate the Ivara software systems into Siemens' Industrial Framework. The investment is part of the Siemens growth strategy in the MES-market. In January 2001, Siemens A&D had announced a merger with the Italian Orsi Group, Genoa, Italy.
