Chrysler Group Teams with IBM in B2C Integration
Initiative
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 7 Chrysler Group today named IBM
as its integration partner for Business-to-Consumer (B2C) Internet
initiatives. IBM will work closely with Chrysler Group service providers such
as Cobalt Group (supplier of Internet-based products and services) and Organic
(web site developer) to integrate and streamline the company's web application
systems.
As the primary interface with the automaker's other Internet technology
partners, IBM will provide standards and methods to enhance the Chrysler
Group's overall Web presence.
"The new partnership will allow us to brand all Chrysler Group Internet
applications. With a common look and shared infrastructure, customers will
have a seamless experience -- whether logging on to our corporate websites or
communicating via the Internet with our dealers," said Bill Hall, Chrysler
Group Director of e-commerce. "Additionally, the new partnership is expected
to help reduce costs and speed the development of Internet-based initiatives
for the Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep(R) brands."
"IBM's long-time relationship with and understanding of Chrysler Group
operations will enhance the Web-integration process," said Bill Whedon,
Chrysler Group Director of Information Technology Management. "We wanted a
partner that could help us create an effective multi-vendor, best-of-breed,
development and hosting environment."
