NASCAR WCUP: Ken Schrader enjoys the 'wide groove' at Michigan

"We ran OK at Michigan last year, but not as good as we would have liked. It is a great track with a wide racing groove and it almost always comes down to fuel mileage. Other than a miscalculation at Talladega, we've been really pleased with our fuel mileage numbers this season."--Ken Schrader

Schrader's Michigan Highlights...

The "M&M's"® Racing Team is utilizing the same car at Michigan Speedway that they competed with earlier this season at Atlanta. Not only was the Atlanta race the debut of crew chief Newt Moore, it was also the team's first top-10 performance of the season.

The "M&M's"® Racing Team was scheduled to test at Michigan Speedway in April, but had to cancel the test due to snow at the speedway. Even without the test, the "M&M's"® Racing Team elected to put a new set of front fenders on the race car.

Schrader always stays busy during his days away from Winston Cup activity, but this week he's enlisted some help from fellow racers Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kenny Wallace. The trio is scheduled to make an appearance at I-55 Raceway, the track Schrader co-promotes in Pevely, Mo., on Wednesday.

The "M&M's"® Racing has had a traditionally strong performance record at Michigan Speedway, particularly in qualifying. Retired driver Ernie Irvan captured the pole position in 1998 and the outside pole position in 1999.
