InfoMove Awarded Patent for Instantaneous Traffic Monitoring System

KIRKLAND, Wash.--June 5, 2001--InfoMove, Inc., the leading developer of telematics software and services, announced the approval of its patent (No. 6,236,933) that provides a system for instantaneously monitoring traffic congestion by collecting location and speed information from motor vehicles.
The monitoring and reporting of this information will enable drivers to receive estimated time of arrival and alternative route recommendations based on current and predictive traffic flow information.
"The award of this patent provides the foundation for InfoMove to work with its partners to develop the next generation of intelligent transportation systems," said Peter Holland, president and CEO of InfoMove. Providing real-time and predictive traffic congestion information directly to drivers will greatly improve travel times, saving money and frustration to the millions of American motorists.
According to the US Department of Transportation, Americans spend 2 billion hours a year stuck in traffic, while the annual cost of traffic congestion has skyrocketed to over $48 billion in lost productivity.
InfoMove's technology and applications will be showcased at the ITS 2001 Meeting and Exposition (June 4-7, Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami, FL). Demonstrations of InfoMove's applications will be held in booth No. 935 in conjunction with partner ComROAD AG.
