ADP Dealer Services Announces the Addition Of Websense Enterprise Software to Its ASP Solution; Internet Security Software Enhancement For ADP's Comprehensive Offsite ASP Program
CHICAGO--June 4, 2001--The Dealer Services Group Of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is pleased to announce an alliance with Websense, an Employee Internet Management (EIM) company based in San Diego, CA. Websense Enterprise software enables businesses to monitor, report and manage how their employees use the Internet. ADP's ASP solution is a new technology program to provide delivery of sales, service, parts and business applications and Internet access to dealers across a secure network hosted in a professionally managed environment. With ADP's ASP solution, a dealer can access their complete ADP(R) Alliance(R) or Elite(R) dealer management system online. The use of Websense software allows a dealership to better control the access to the Internet by dealership employees. Websense provides services such as a built-in reporting feature, a Master Database with over 2.2 million websites covering 400 million pages, and flexible options for managing employee Internet access, such as Block, Permit and Postpone, and time-based Quotas.
"The ADP ASP solution opened up access to the Internet for over 250 or our employees. We are aware that the Internet can often be the cause of productivity shortfalls and even liability concerns. With Websense Enterprise we can achieve a level of control over the Internet that was impossible only a few months ago. This will help make our dealerships more productive and healthy environments in which to work," states S.L. Guerrera, Comptroller, and Treasurer for the Schumacher Auto Group.
"Our ASP solution enables many users in a dealership to access the Internet for day to day management of the business. The Internet has proven to be a valuable tool but also provides access to information and content not normally seen in a business. Websense solves that challenge by limiting what content may be accessed," states Bob Karp, Senior Vice President and General Manager of E-Commerce and ASP for ADP Dealer Services.
"Websense believes that through distribution partnerships with leading companies such as ADP, customers ultimately benefit by getting industry-focused, best-of-breed solutions for their network infrastructures," says Andy Meyer, Vice President of Marketing, Websense Inc. "No other solution offers the scalability and flexibility of Websense, which can be customized for any sized network, from 100-person firms to global corporations. In fact, the software is already used by more than 45 auto manufacturers and hundreds of dealers worldwide."
Instead of having to pay separate charges for the applications that can be accessed over the Internet, the dealer receives a single charge for all of the software that is used with ADP's ASP solution. Because ADP's ASP is an offsite solution, it can be tailored to provide as much or as little information access and system management over the Internet as the dealer needs. ADP partners with such Internet access providers as Qwest, AT & T and MCI to ensure the highest level of online support and bandwidth options.
"This is not just a subset of automotive front-end solutions but the entire suite of applications the dealer uses every day to operate their dealership. This total application suite, available online, is what differentiates ADP from the others. With our ASP program, the dealer no longer has the headaches of having to manage Internet access issues. All of these are now managed by ADP and our partner companies, who are the leading names in Internet access," says Dan McCray, Vice President ASP Product Marketing for ADP Dealer Services.
"We wanted to access our software applications online rather than with an onsite dealer management system. ADP's ASP released us from the mundane task of computer maintenance and allowed us to focus on selling and servicing cars. We also wanted the option to increase our level of system use. With ADP, we were able to upgrade our software without any of the challenges of an onsite upgrade for a multi-franchise automotive group. ASP makes software use a seamless process," adds Guerrera.
