Belleville High Banks Hall of Fame & Museum open Sunday
For Immediate Release BELLEVILLE HIGH BANKS HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM OPEN SUNDAY BELLEVILLE, Kan. (June 1, 2001) - Bob Blazek and the staff of the National Midget Auto Racing Museum and High Banks Hall of Fame in Belleville, Kan., will be your hosts on Sunday as the "World's Fastest 1/2 Mile Dirt Track" opens the 2001 racing season with the 360 Sprint Cars of the NSCA Ethanol E-10 Sprint Series and the I.M.C.A. Late Models of the CNCTA Friesen Challenge Series. The Museum, located in downtown Belleville, will open at 10 a.m. The temporary site is located on the South side of the Republic County Courthouse Square. Fans may browse through the large collection of racing memorabilia at leisure. Drivers and owners are invited to bring a framed photo of their past or present race car for permanent or temporary display inside the museum. If one wishes to bench race or just simply relax, you're invited to do so on the sidewalk of the mall lobby. Fans and competitors are also encouraged to inquire about the items to be given away by the Museum during the 24th Annual Belleville Midget Nationals presented by WhoWon.com, Aug. 2-4. Superior Outdoor Power Center of Superior, Neb., has partnered with the Hall of Fame to offer a chance of winning a Yamaha Kodiak 4-wheeler, a portable Honda generator or two tickets for four nights of the 2001 Amoco Ultimate Knoxville Nationals. Proceeds from this project will help fund the new Museum construction in Belleville. The Belleville High Banks pit gate opens this Sunday, June 3, at 3 p.m. (CST), with spectator gates swinging open at 5. Hot laps get underway at 6:30 and the green flag unfurls for the first heat race at 7:30. Adult general admission is $12 and children are $5. Pit passes are $20. The Belleville High Banks, located in Belleville, Kan., is managed by a volunteer racing committee that host 10-12 racing events annually. "The World's Fastest Half-Mile Dirt Track" allows drivers the rare opportunity to run "wide open" the entire track, and the sweeping oval is one of the most demanding test of endurance and skill for drivers. The track's mainstay is the annual Belleville Midget Nationals, held every year during the first weekend in August. As the nation's most prestigious midget car race of the year, the best equipment, owners and drivers flock to the small rural community of 3,500, which is transformed into a racing Mecca of more than 30,000 people each August.
