NHRA: Jeg's car is ready to improve on day two

In the opening session the dog fight began for the sixteen available qualifying positions in NHRA's most competitive professional category. A total of 36 cars began their battle on Friday.

In the opening qualifying session Troy Coughlin ran a 6.896 at 199.73 mph. The run was the eighth quickest and sixth fastest run of the session.

"To run strong out of the trailer is always what you want to do, it keeps you from getting behind the eight ball right off the bat. We got a lot of good data on the track and we can use it to tune this Jeg's Chevy Cavalier for the rest of the weekend," said Troy.

Jeg Coughlin and his Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier laid down a 6.902 at 199.52 mph in the first session. He landed in the No. 10 spot.

"We made a good run in the first session and we are looking forward to putting the Jeg's machine closer to the top of the qualifying page," commented Jeg.

Neither of the Jeg's machines improved in the second qualifying session. Troy made the quicker pass of the two Team Jeg's cars. Troy ran a 6.909 at 198.99 mph and slipped to the No. 11 position. Jeg crossed the finish line beams with a 6.921 at 198.93 mph and landed in the No. 12 spot.

"I really thought that we were going to run better then we did in the second session. Looking back on things, we probably could have been a little more aggressive," said Troy.

"We decided to make an engine change after the second session and we are looking forward to improving on Saturday," commented Jeg.
