Hino Targets Fleets: Names Jim Layman as National Fleet Sales Manager
ORANGEBURG, NY., June 1, 2001 -- Hino Diesel Trucks (USA) has named Jim
Layman as its National Fleet Sales Manager. The appointment was made by Ted
J. Fick, Hino's senior vice president, who says the addition of Layman will
significantly strengthen Hino's growth in fleet sales in the Class 4
through 7 marketplace.
"Jim has been in the trucking industry for 20 years and has experience from
both the fleet account side (he managed fleets of up to 11,000 vehicles) and
on the OEM fleet sales side," said Fick. "He's a great addition to our
team. Our truck sales grew by 27 percent last year, and we're expecting
double-digit growth again this year. Jim will help us convey the Hino
product benefits to fleets and we expect a great response."
Layman says he's excited to join Hino and believes he has a competitive edge
in selling "the industry's premier medium-duty cabovers. Hino has a
commitment to quality and I feel their customer loyalty is unprecedented in
the medium-duty market," Layman said. "Owners simply stay with the Hino
product due to its durability, reliability, fuel economy and driver
reception. For fleet owners, these items are critical, as are life-cycle
costs. We can document cost-per-mile significantly below the industry
standard, which gives our customers the highest quality product with a very
low cost of ownership."
Hino Diesel Trucks (USA) is a leading supplier of Class 4-7 cabover trucks
throughout the United States. Hino (USA), was the first Japanese truck and
bus manufacturer to enter the U.S. market and has been an active participant
in the North American market for 17 years. To learn more about Hino, visit
