Infiniti Reports May Sales; Q45 Sales Nearly Double Versus Last Year

    GARDENA, Calif., June 1 Infiniti, the luxury division of
Nissan North America, Inc., today reported May sales of 5,708 units.
    Following the introduction of an all-new 2002 Q45 performance luxury sedan
in April, Q45 sales rose to 686 units, a 99.4 percent increase versus last
year.  With its all-new avant-garde styling, standard 4.5-liter V8 engine that
pumps out 340 horsepower, and standard voice activation system, the 2002 Q45
continues to receive rave reviews from the media, consumers and retailers.
    The Infiniti I30 posted sales of 2,801 units, a 15.6 percent decrease
versus last year while the QX4 luxury sport utility vehicle posted sales of
1,216 units, a 41.9 percent decrease versus last year.
    Rounding out Infiniti's lineup, the G20 luxury sports sedan posted sales
of 1,005 units, a 16.0 percent decrease versus last year.
    Overall the Infiniti Division reported a 17.9 percent decrease versus last
year.  Nissan North America, Inc. combined sales for May, including Nissan and
Infiniti divisions, totaled 63,042 units, a 6.9 percent decline from last
year.
