Daewoo's May Sales Best of 2001

COMPTON, Calif., June 1 "Daewoo's May retail sales of
5617 units are a 12% increase over April and a 2% increase over May of 2000.
We are confident that this positive trend will continue for the remainder of
the year," stated D.J. Lee, President and CEO of Daewoo Motor America.
Consumer confidence in the Daewoo brand will be even stronger following
the announcement on May 27, by General Motors to begin formal negotiations
with Daewoo Motor Korea and the Korean Development Bank to purchase the assets
of Daewoo Motor. With the speculation ending regarding the future of Daewoo a
sales increase in June is expected.
There is more good news for Daewoo: in the just released J.D. Power and
Associates Initial Quality Study, Daewoo improved five positions among
competing brands and ranked highest among Korean brands.
