Audi Sets Year-To-Date Record - Best May Sales Since 1985

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 1 Audi of America set an all-
time record for the first five months of the year, thanks in part to a strong
May sales month.  Audi finished the month with a total of 7,719 sales, an
increase of 10.9 percent over May 2000 when sales were 6,963.  Audi year-to-
date sales increased 1.5 percent to 33,983 versus the 33,471 vehicles sold
during the same period last year.
    Much of the May sales success results from Audi's TT and A4 models.  The
TT posted monthly sales of 1,216 units, up 11 percent over last May.  The Audi
A4 continues its strong sales with 3,244 for the month, up 7 percent.  The
Audi A6 models accounted for 2,554 monthly sales vs. 2,661 for the previous
year.
    Audi's all-aluminum flagship A8 reported total sales of 182, off 2
percent, and the allroad quattro finished the month with 523.
