Simula Nominates Peter W. Schutz to Board of Directors

    PHOENIX--June 1, 2001--Simula, Inc. (AMEX: SMU) announced today that Peter W. Schutz has been nominated for election to the Company's Board of Directors at its Annual Shareholders Meeting to be held June 7, 2001. Schutz of Naples, Florida, is a nationally recognized writer and speaker on business practices and organizational behavior.
    From 1981 to 1987, Schutz was CEO of Porsche AG Worldwide and served in that capacity during a restructuring period in which Porsche returned to profitability.
    Schutz's previous experience includes various engineering positions with Caterpillar and as director of engineering and vice president for sales and services for Cummins Engine Company.
    Schutz currently is a consultant and speaker on topics including sales, strategic planning and team building. Among his more recognizable work is his training related to "getting extraordinary things from ordinary people." His forthcoming book, "Beyond Success," will be published by year-end.
