DETROIT -

FOR RELEASE: May 14, 2001

DETROIT - Buick announced today that it has signed a promotional agreement with golf instructor Butch Harmon and the Butch Harmon School of Golf.

As the official car of the Butch Harmon School of Golf, Buick will have the opportunity to display vehicles and signage at the school's two venues - Rio Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas and Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort on the Grand Bahama Island.

Harmon, who will receive two new Buicks as part of the agreement, will make appearances on behalf of Buick and will participate in golf promotions for the company. Harmon, Tiger Woods' golf coach, will host the inaugural "Tiger Training Camp" in November at Rio Secco Golf Club. Woods, who has a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Buick, will conduct a clinic during the training camp for 20 winners of Buick's "guess Tiger's score" promotion implemented during the 2001 Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course (Lajolla, Calif.) in February.

"This partnership joins the PGA Tour's original corporate sponsor and the world's premiere golf coach in a natural extension of our relationship with the best golfer in the world, Tiger Woods," said Tony Derhake, executive director of golf for Buick. "This unique relationship provides us with an excellent vehicle to develop targeted dealer and consumer promotions, while continuing to reinforce the premium values that Buick stands for."

"It's a privilege to be associated with a great organization like Buick, which has been a great sponsor of golf for more than 40 years," said Harmon. " I look forward to working with Buick, and Tiger, to promote Buick's involvement in the sport."

Harmon has been involved in the sport of golf for 36 years. His father, Claude Harmon, a renowned club and teaching pro and the 1948 Masters Champion, introduced him to the game. Harmon played on the PGA Tour in the early 1970's, winning the B.C. Open in 1971. In addition to Woods, he has been a teaching instructor to several PGA Tour pros, including Darren Clarke and Mark Calcavecchia. Now in its fifth decade as the original corporate sponsor of the PGA Tour, Buick Motor Division is title-sponsor of four PGA Tour events: The Buick Invitational (February 5-11, Torrey Pines Golf Course, La Jolla, Calif.); the Buick Classic (June 18-24, Westchester Country Club, Harrison, N.Y.); the Buick Open (August 6-12, Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, Grand Blanc, Mich.); and the Buick Challenge (October 22-28, Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, Ga.).

The official car of the PGA Tour since 1984, Buick is a sponsor of ESPN's "Inside the PGA Tour" program and an official sponsor of the domestic events of the World Golf Championships. Buick sponsors four PGA Tour professionals, including Tiger Woods, Ben Crenshaw, David Berganio Jr. and rookie J.J. Henry.

Through its four title-sponsored PGA Tour events, which are all televised nationally, Buick has donated more than $19.5 million to charity since 1982.
