Saturn SC1 "First in Class" At Michelin One Lap Of America

TROY, Mich. - A race-modified 2001 Saturn SC1 took "First in Class" in this year's Michelin One Lap of America, competing against some of the most expensive high performance vehicles in the world. Out of about 100 entrants, the Saturn SC1 placed 22nd overall. Racers covered 3,933 miles in the road rally portion of the event and competed in fifteen timed competitions at seven regional race tracks throughout the United States during the grueling eight day race. "Competing in One Lap of America gives us the opportunity to showcase Saturn's durability and performance," said Ken Wasmer, Saturn assistant chief engineer. "Our win proves that Saturn has a formidable car that's adaptable to customization and an engineering team that can get the job done."

Driving the Saturn SC1 in One Lap of America were Tom Brandlehner, Saturn field services engineer, Atlanta, Georgia and Chris Berube, GM portfolio development, Sterling Heights, Michigan.
