Pontiac-GMC and Cadillac Join Make-A-Wish Foundation To Make Smiles Standard Equipment At The Crosby Celebrity Golf Tournament

Winston-Salem, NC - As Official Automotive Sponsors of The Crosby Celebrity Golf Tournament, Pontiac-GMC and Cadillac, divisions of General Motors, provide luxurious and versatile vehicles for VIP transportation and tournament operations. However, the automakers' are most looking forward to putting a smile on the face of a young golf and UNC basketball fan. Twelve-year-old Tyler is a huge golf fan and loves to watch Carolina basketball. Pontiac-GMC and Cadillac found The Crosby was the perfect opportunity to bring Tyler's two passions together for one fantastic experience.

On Saturday, June 2, Tyler and his family will be VIP guests at the Pontiac-GMC/Cadillac SkyBox along the 9th green. Tyler will ride along the front nine with two of his heroes, Bill Gutheridge, former coach of UNC Mens' Basketball and Buzz Peterson, a former UNC basketball player and current head coach of University of Tennessee basketball. After the round, Tyler will meet ESPN sportscaster Stuart Scott and other celebrity golfers. Through other General Motors' partnerships, Tyler will also receive an autographed basketball from Grant Hill of the NBA's Orlando Magic and signed items from the Atlanta Braves and the Miami Heat.

Tyler is very excited about this opportunity and is ready for a day to remember on beautiful Bermuda Run Country Club. "This is the 16th year of our involvement with The Crosby," said John Orth, Regional Marketing Manager for Cadillac. "What better way to celebrate this long-standing tradition than to make a wish come true."

The UAW-GM/General Motors multi-year national sponsorship of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is the largest single commitment by any sponsor in the Foundation's history. UAW-GM's support is provided by the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources, which develops and administers education, training and retraining programs and joint activities for approximately 140,000 UAW-represented GM employees.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. It is the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 80 chapters in the United States and its territories and 20 international affiliates spanning five continents. During the year 2000, the Make-A-Wish Foundation honored 20 years of granting wishes to more than 80,000 children worldwide. UAW-GM sponsored 80 wishes nationwide in celebration of the Foundation's 20th birthday.
